Some open-world games offer more freedom than others. When they offer verticality, or when they impose no restrictions on traversing the environments visible to the player, it makes all the difference. These few lines certainly make you think of games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild or Elden Ring.
But they are not the only ones to offer an open world without limits. The open world we are talking about offers quite simply the largest open world in the history of video games. And it might not be the game you're thinking of.
No Man's Sky, an impossible universe to fully explore
The largest open world of all time is neither Minecraft nor Microsoft Flight Simulator nor Skyrim. The biggest playground, we find it in No Man's Sky. The title developed by Hello Games offers to explore no less than 255 galaxies and visit space like never before. Upon its release in 2016, No Man's Sky greatly disappointed gamers due to its lack of content and poor quality.
